In 2010, the number of children registering with Easter Seals Ontario increased by more than 22%, year over year. This means that more families with children with physical disabilities are feeling financial strain and need or will need assistance with the costs associated with raising their child.
Of the families who requested financial assistance from Easter Seals and self-reported their annual income in 2010, 64% reported a total family income of under $60,000. In addition, 45% of families had a total annual household income of under $40,000; and 21% had total family of under $20,000.
