What You Need to Know
Race Location
We have moved! The event will NOT be taking place at Upper Canada Mall in 2012. Although Upper Canada Mall is our Title Sponsor for this year, the event will not be held at Upper Canada Mall as in previous years. The new event venue will be the Newmarket Riverwalk Commons, located at 200 Doug Duncan Drive.
Race Numbers
10k Run and 5k Run participants will be assigned a specific race number that corresponds to their race information and timing chip. Race numbers must be worn on the runner’s front (either affixed to a shirt or on a race belt).
Participants in the 10k Walk or 5k Walk will be given a race bib without a race number. Race bibs should be worn on the runner’s front (either affixed to a shirt or on a race belt).
Race Timing
Both the 10k Run and 5k Run will be chip timed. All runners will have a timing chip attached to their clothing which will record their official race time. Race timing is provided by Chip Time Results
The 10k Walk and 5k Walk will NOT be chip timed. If you plan to walk either the 10k or 5k course and wish to receive a finishing time, you MUST register for and participate in the 10k Run or the 5k Run in order to receive a race number and timing chip.
T-Shirts
All participants will receive a technical t-shirt with their entry fee. There will be men’s fit and women’s fit t-shirts available. Please note that our women’s fit t-shirts fit smaller than a traditional unisex t-shirt, so you may want to consider selecting a size up when registering. Children 5 and under will not receive a t-shirt with their free entry.
Finisher Medals
All participants will receive a medal upon finishing the race.
Water Stations
There will be 4 water stations located along the course that will service both 10k and 5k participants.
Race Morning Bag Check
Race morning bag check will be available. Please ensure that your bag check tag is securely attached to your bag. Participants are responsible for tagging their own bags. Participants check their bags at their own risk. Easter Seals Ontario is not responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen items. Any items left at the end of the event will be donated to local charities.
Strollers, Baby Joggers & Dogs
Strollers and baby joggers are permitted on the race course, however, participants are asked to be courteous to other participants and start at the back of the pack.
Dogs are also permitted on the race course, but participants are asked to be courteous to other participants and start at the back of the pack. Please keep in mind that there will be hundreds of people, loud noise and commotion. If your pet is at all uncomfortable in this type of environment, please do not bring your pet to the race. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
Bicycles, roller blades, scooters and skateboards are NOT permitted on the race course.
